New digital technology enables us to obtain and analyse the information gathered in a more complete way. With tools such as DSD we can visualise the ideal mouth before carrying out any type of treatment, and study with detail the patient’s needs and treatment options therefore optimising each stage to be as conservative as possible, bringing us closer and closer to a better aesthetic and functional result.
Computer-guided surgery is one of the greatest advances in this field. It consists of the combination of all the information obtained from a patient (models or moulds, scans, anatomy and smile design) in order to carry out a surgery with great precision which is infinitely less traumatic for the patient.
By processing all the information on a computer, we can visualise the most appropriate treatment and design a guided splint or tool that only allows us to fit the implants in the desired location. This technique makes it possible to place the dental implants without having to lift the gum to see the bone. In this way, the anatomy is maintained much more carefully and the inflammation and other discomforts are lessened.
Increasingly, we are able to undertake more complicated cases, carry out more advanced reconstructions, in less time, with fewer and much smaller surgeries with notably better results.
